How many seasons does 'Outer Banks' have?
"Outer Banks" has four seasons, the first of which was released in 2020.
The young adult series centered around friendship, high-stakes action and adventure has drawn comparisons to other successful teen dramas, Stokes previously said.
“There’s the same camaraderie you’ve seen with the 'Stranger Things' kids, and we’ve gotten comparisons to 'Riverdale,' with the mystery, murder, adventure stuff," Stokes told Refinery29 in 2020. "It’s cool because we’re also breaking new ground. We’re adding a completely different element to the teen drama."
Will there be 'Outer Banks' Season 5?
On Monday, Nov. 4, Netflix announced that the fifth season of "Outer Banks" will be the last for the series.
The creators, Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, released a letter to fans about the show's final chapter.
"Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we're putting Season Four behind us and turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imaged and planned years ago," the letter, in part, stated. "Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you'll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break."
Stokes also shared the letter on his Instagram, thanking fans for watching the show for five years.
"It's always gonna be Pogues 4 Life," the actor wrote.
What will be Season 5's storyline?
In the letter, the creators also opened up about the inspiration of the show, adding that they knew when it would end from the early stages.
"Seven years ago, in the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. The photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time," the creators said. "From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-seaon journey of adventure, treasure hunting and friendship."
Burke told Netflix that the treasure hunt in Season 4 "should carry us through all the way to the end."
Is there a release date for Season 5?
It's unclear when Season 5 will be released.
